Threshold is a non-profit organization providing a comprehensive array of Employment and Training, Behavioral Health, and Community Support Services for persons experiencing
mental, physical, developmental, and emotional challenges.
Incorporated in 1965, Threshold began by providing community living supports
and opportunities for persons transitioning from state centers to community settings.
Two group homes were initially established and a small socialization experience was offered during the day at a Church in Reading.
In 1973 Threshold occupied a former store building located at 405 Penn Street in
Reading. Vocational and Educational services were provided at the
Center until 1979 at which time we occupied our new and larger headquarters facility
located at 1000 Lancaster Avenue.
Over the years Threshold steadily expanded by developing new services and supports
such as Supported Living and Family Living options; Community Job Placement and
Training services, Behavioral Health treatment and Clubhouse services, to mention
a few. During the 1980's several business operations were established including TRS Wood Products and Precision Micrographics.
On an annual basis Threshold provides services and supports for about five hundred
individuals who are sponsored by a number of funding agents.
Threshold embraces the philosophies of self-determination and achieving individual
personal outcomes supporting each person to realize healthy, safe and meaningful
lifestyles.
Thank you for your interest in Threshold.
Sincerely,
Ronald L. Williams
